Norwich

Bars & Restaurants: A huge selection as you would expect in a city the size of Norwich. Extensive fee pay moorings are available at the Yacht Station which are a short walk uphill from the city centre. Unfortunately, the proximity to the "clubs" of Norwich make overnight mooring less desirable between Thursday and Sunday nights. It can be noisy as a result. Be sure to drop you mudweight if you are staying overnight.

Shops: No shortage of retailers in the city centre including department stores, discount stores and fast food outlets of all descriptions.

Local Attractions: The Norman Cathedral, the Castle and Pulls Ferry are the historical attractions. The city has a fine shopping area including a marketplace and many indoor shopping centres.

Thorpe Green

Bars & Restaurants: Three bars located on the "cut" which is away from the main river. The Rivergarden and The Rushcuttters have extensive menus and offer free moorings for patrons. The Town House does not have safe moorings but can be reached from free moorings at the village green. It offers a great value carvery so is worth a visit.

Shops: Hanley's coffee shop is opposite the green. .

Local Attractions: Norwich city centre can be reached by bus from here avoiding the 45 minute cruise into the city centre.

Bramerton Woods End

Bars & Restaurants: The Waters Edge Bar & Restaurant has it's own moorings or you can moor a five minute walk away on the village green. This is a pleasant location on a bend of the River Yare. Extensive food menu available to the visitor.

Surlingham

Bars & Restaurants: The Surlingham Ferry is located on the banks of the river Yare. There are extensive recently renovated free moorings for visitors. The Ferry has a good reputation for it's food and holds regular live music sessions - usually in the afternoons.

Brundall

Bars & Restaurants: The Yare Hotel has no moorings of its own. It is however just a few minutes walk from one of the boatyards in the dyke where you can moor with no charges. The Yare has a good sized menu and is popular with locals and visitors. The Coldham Hall Tavern is located on the opposite side of the river and has free stern on mooring for visitors. Good selection of dishes on the food menu . The Lavender House restaurant is a short walk up the hill into Brundall village. Booking is recommended should you wish to eat here.

Shops: A supermarket, doctor, pharmacy and other shops are situated along the high street.

Local attractions: Brundall lies just 10 minutes by train from Norwich so saving a 90 minute cruise by river. A day out in Norwich can be had without the expense of fuel or mooring fees.

Rockland

Bars & Restaurants: The New Inn is reached by travelling down a dyke from the river Yare. You cross Rockland Broad before exiting into another narrow dyke which leads to the free moorings. The New Inn is opposite. There is a good choice of food on the bar or restaurant menus.

Shops: A 20 - 30 minute walk up the hill will bring you to the only general stores in the village.

Buckenham Ferry

Bars & Restaurants: The Beauchamp Arms can be found on the site of the former ferry. It is a large imposing building on the banks of the Yare. It has a good food menu and moorings are free for patrons.

Cantley

Bars & Restaurants: The Rushcutters Inn is riverside with its own free moorings alongside. It is situated right next to the sugar factory so it should be easy to find. It has recent new landlords who aiming to please. Good choice of food available.

Loddon

Bars & Restaurants: Loddon is reached by cruising down the 3.5 miles River Chet, which branches off the River Yare. Situated a short walk from the free moorings are The Kings Head, The Swan and The Angel (turn left up the main street from the free moorings) or The White Horse. (Turn right from the free moorings). All are popular with locals and offer a good choice of food. The Kings Head and the White Horse hold live music events most weekends.

Shops: Walk up the hill from the moorings to find cafés, a Co-op Supermarket, a newsagent/gift shop, a doctor, pharmacy, butchers and a hardware shop.

Local attractions: Loddon is a delightful old market town. A stroll down the main street will take you past many period properties. A walk along the river Chet to Hardley Cross will take you past Hardley Flood, an expanse of water rich in water bird life.

Reedham

Bars & Restaurants: The Lord Nelson and The Ship Inn are both situated on the banks of the Yare and have the advantage of free moorings directly in front. A wide choice of food is available at both establishments. The Lord Nelson has only recently reopened after renovation. The Ferry Inn can be found further away from the village and also has free moorings. Alongside is the chain ferry which takes vehicles across the river.

Shops: A store selling provisions and gifts is on the quayside. Fish and chips, a doctor and pharmacy are available to visitors though these are to be found up the hill on the level overlooking the riverside.

Local Attractions: Pettitts Adventure Park can be found around 1 mile from the moorings. It is a particular favourite of children.

Berney Arms Mill

Bars & Restaurants: Sadly, the Berney Arms is no more. It closed some months ago and has since been destroyed by fire so there is little hope of it returning. As such, Berney Arms can now only be considered as a stop off point for those needing to wait for suitable tidal conditions to cross Breydon Water.

Local attractions: The imposing Berney Arms Mill stands tall at the head of Breydon Water and can be visited using the moorings here.
